Here comes more information about people in Norway :

My Uncle Johannes has two names Birger Johannes, but he only uses his second name Johannes.

That is the same for my aunt Mary, her name is Britha Mary (Called up after her parents Britha & Mathias), she only uses her second name Mary. (Maybe that started because they don’t wanted to mix her with her mother Britha?) I don’t know.

In front of Ardys is Knut (Magnar) Molvik born (21.11.1967). He is my cousin, and the son of (Britha) Mary, then his mother Mary Molvik (Born 15.05.1935), then May Britt and Bjarte Molvik (born 29.03.1979), they are also children of Mary and Ingolf Molvik. May Britt and Bjarte are triplets, but their brother Helge couldn’t go with us to Minnesota. He is married and they then had just got a little boy.

My aunt Mary and her husband Ingolf live in Arna just outside Bergen. Her husband is 75 and retired. Earlier he worked in the Norwegian railways. They have a cabin here in Kallevik, which they often use in the summer.

Their oldest son Knut lives at home. He is working on Flesland airport, Bergen for a Norwegian air company called Widaroe.

Their son Bjarte lives and works in Bodoe in the northern part of Norway. Their daughter May Britt lives in Oslo, working for the Norwegian Sunday school association. They are both unmarried.

Their son Helge also lives in the east of Norway at Hoenefoss. He is married to Kari and they have a little baby boy named Daniel.

My father’s sister Anny has a little apartment in Mary and Ingolf’s house. She earlier worked as a cook on a Bible school on Sotra near Bergen. She is now 69, (born 28.04.1930) and retired about 2 years ago. She also spends a lot of time in the old house h ere in Kallevik especially in the summer. Anny is not married.

Two of my aunts are married and live here on Boemlo.

That is Ruth (born 22.11.1931). Her husband’s name is Karl (Kalle) Bjoerkelund (born 08.10.1927).

He earlier worked on a Wartsila NSD Norway which is Boemlo’s largest industrial workplace with production of propellers, ships repair and things like that. They live in Foldroyhamn about ten minutes by car from Kallevik.

They have two boys Bjarne (born 21.04.1962) and Rolf Kåre (born 14.02.1967). They both live in Bergen. Bjarne is an engineer and is married to Kristin from Oslo. She is a doctor and they have three boys Halvard (1992), Torstein (1994) and Birger (1995).

Ruth’s youngest son, Rolf Kåre is a teacher and he lives together with his girlfriend Vibecke.

My second aunt here on Boemlo is Bertha (born 07.09.1928). She is married to Paul Grønnevik. He was earlier a truck and a taxi chauffeur, but he is now retired. They have four children. Two boys Egil (born 11.11.1953) and Magne (born 29.06.1955). They both work as chauffeurs, and they are married and live in Groennevik close by their parents about ten minutes by car from Kallevik.

Egil is married to Laila and they have two boys Rune (1972) and Frode(1977).

Magne is married to Lise and they have a girl Marianne (1979) and a boy Oeistein (1982).

Their third child of Bertha and Paul is Brit (born 08.08.1958). She lives in Mosterhamn. She was first married to Otto, but he died in 1984. Now she lives together with Karsten.

Brit and Otto has one girl Gunnbjoerg (1979), and Brit and Karsten have two girls Kathrine (1990) and Rebekka (1995).

Bertha and Paul’s fourth child is Anne Grethe (born 09.11.1962). She is married to Geir Stavland. They live closed by her parents house, and they have two girls Anja (1990) and Junhild (1994)

Finally, my father oldest sister Solveig was married to Erling Falkeid. He was a farmer, but he died about three years after their marriage. She still lives alone at their farm at Kårstø near Haugesund.

She has two children Brit Marit (born 25.02.1958). She is married to Hans Kåre Algroy from Sotra near Bergen. They live at Algroy, S otra and have six children. Erling Andre (1983), Einar (1985), Ingunn (1987), MagnuS(1991), Sigbjoern (1993) and Henning (1995).

Solveig’s second child is Sivert Martin (born 17.11.1959). He is not married and he lives in Oslo.

Solveig also has a cabin here in Kallevik, which she uses in the summer.

Then it is my uncle (Birger) Johannes living at Rubbestadneset north on Boemlo, (about 20 minutes by car from here).

This was about our part of the Kallevik family. I have also more systematic information back to my great grandfather, but I want people from the other part of the family to take a look and see if there is anything wrong before I’ll mail it to you.

I’ll just tell a little about my grandfathers brothers and sisters :

His oldest sister was Anna (1900). She married Reinert Royksund. They had no children. They lived in Royksund nearby Kallevik until about 1965, then they moved to Haugesund. Anna died in 1986.

Reidar (1902-08.12.1995) was the owner of Kallevik together with his brother until 1969. He immigrated to Canada in 1925. There he married Judith Osnes, and they have four children. You can read about his family

in the back of your family history book. His wife Judith still lives.

Jakob (Annanias) 1903-196? He lived in Haugesund and worked as a cabinetmaker (made furniture).

He was first married to Aslaug and they had one daughter Bjoerg.

She is married to Kjell Knutsen and they live in Palo Alto California.

They have three children: Randi, Robert and Kristine Bente, who are all married and live in USA.

Then Jakob married Tora(1915-1996).

Jakob and Tora had three boys. Thomas (1948) lives in Haugesund. Their other two boys are Sverre and Birger, twins,born 1950.

He married Serine (born 1906). They lived nearby Kallevik, and their daughter Berit (1947) still lives in their house.

I think some of your pictures were taken nearby their house. It is just over the see or fjord from Kallevik where you went out in the boat.

Their other child Leif (1946) lives at Stord.

(Bertha) Marie (1908-1996) married Arne Nilsen in Tromsoe. She had one daughter Harriet (1930) who lives in the east of Norway (Hoenefoss), and one son Reidar (1946), who also lives in the eastern Norway (Hamar).

Reidar is married to Liv and have one boy and one girl.

Johanne (1908-1987) married Jens Kristian Langeland, and they lived on Sotra near Bergen. She was Jens Kristian Ellingsens Grandmother. They had three girls, Magny (1938), Jorunn (1942) and Helga (Ellingsen 1944). (There is more information about this family on Jens’s homepage).

About your picture from Norway: There is one of a yellow house taken from the sea, you can also see some sheep and the old barn there. That is our house, it is now white.

I’ll try to scan you some newer pictures from my family.
